The Maths Mindset Academy

Progress you can see. Confidence you can feel.

The mind behind the academy
Hello, I'm Aimee.
I’m a qualified maths teacher with a First Class BSc in Secondary Mathematics Education (QTS). After several years teaching in secondary schools and 5 years of experience in private tutoring, I now focus on providing personalised online support, helping students build confidence, feel at ease with maths, and achieve their potential.
My Story
Maths wasn’t always something that came naturally to me. In fact, when I was younger, I struggled. I remember sitting in lessons feeling confused, frustrated, and quietly wondering if I just wasn’t “a maths person.” Over time, that uncertainty began to affect my confidence, and I started to believe that no matter how hard I tried, it might never truly click.
Then, everything changed.
Part way through secondary school, I had a teacher who saw something in me that I couldn’t yet see in myself. They didn’t lower their expectations, they raised my belief. They took the time to help me understand, to think differently, and to realise that maths wasn’t about being naturally gifted, but about building understanding step by step. For the first time, I experienced what it felt like to succeed in maths. That belief became the turning point not only in my education, but in my life.
From that moment on, I worked relentlessly. I went on to study A Level Maths, and later graduated from university with a First Class degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. Along the way, I was diagnosed with ADHD, something that helped me finally understand why learning had felt so challenging at times. It also gave me something far more valuable: the ability to truly empathise with students who feel overwhelmed, distracted, or unsure of their own ability.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in a school trust that places deep emphasis on building genuine mathematical understanding. This experience has been incredibly powerful. I’ve seen first-hand how students can transform when they are given the right environment, the right explanations, and, most importantly, the right belief in themselves.
Because maths ability is not fixed. Confidence is not fixed. A student’s future is not fixed.
I also believe that the true value of a GCSE in maths goes far beyond the grade itself. It is not simply proof that a student can do maths. It is proof that they can persevere when things feel difficult. It shows resilience, persistence, and the ability to think deeply and solve problems, qualities that form the foundation of success in every future path, whether in education, careers, or life itself.
My mission is rooted in something deeply personal. I don’t just teach maths. I help students rebuild their confidence. I help them experience success. I help them change the way they see themselves. Because I know that challenges, whether that is neurodivergence, low confidence, anxiety, or past setbacks do not define a student’s future. With the right guidance, patience, and belief, those challenges can become part of a story of growth, resilience, and achievement.
My goal is to give every student the same gift that once changed my life: belief.
Because when a young person begins to believe in themselves, everything becomes possible.
